Whee!!! The new Ever After High line, Dragon Games, has arrived on our doorstep, and this is my review of the new Holly O’Hair doll! Of course, if I had it my own, I would have opened up the Darling Charming first, but since my 5-year-old daughter is involved, and since Holly O’Hair is HER favorite, we are unboxing and reviewing her first.
Mattel did an AMAZING job on the Dragon Games line. It looks like the premise is that the Evil Queen has returned to Ever After High and has brought back an old tradition – Dragon Games! It also appears that the way the game is played, a team of 3 dragonriders is required, and from the looks of this line, those 3 dragonriders are Holly O’Hair, Darling Charming, and Raven Queen. However, there is also a special Apple White doll in the Dragon Games line, and she gets a full-on dragon to ride (named Braeburn). I hardly see how that’s fair, since Raven Queen is the one with the pet who is a dragon, but that is beside the point.
This Dragon Games Holly O’Hair is decked out like warrior princess. She is wearing an armored headband, armored neckpiece, and armored boots. She has a claw-like bracelet on her left hand, and a vambrace on her right arm. Her tunic is a tube top flaring out into an open deep-pink-and-gold skirt, and she wears purple-and-gold leggings that are making me jealous right now!
Here are my top reasons to love this new Ever After High Dragon Games Holly O’Hair doll:
1. Holly O’Hair’s Dragon Games belt: it’s loops of braids, reflecting her HAIR-itage. (Get it, haha!)
2. Holly O’Hair’s lumpy ponytail – it’s positively medieval-looking as it’s done with 3 small rubber bands making 3 big lumps in her long, long tresses.
3. This Dragon Games armor! So detailed and gorgeous. They didn’t stint on making it look even a bit patina’d (rusted) on top.
4. Leggings are back! YEAH YEAH!
5. The whole Dragon Games warrior princess vibe…I wish more of these Ever After High characters would get a Dragon Games version of themselves…I’d love to see some of the boys in armor.
