Like a Dragon Ishin! is an action-adventure video game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. It is a spin-off of the Like a Dragon series, formerly and commonly known in English localization as Yakuza. It was released in February 2014 exclusively in Japan, serving as a launch title for the PlayStation 4. A remaster, Like a Dragon: Ishin!,[b] is set to release in February 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It is being developed using Unreal Engine 4, and will receive a worldwide release unlike the original game.

Set in the chaotic Bakumatsu (1853–1867) phase of the Late Edo period, players take on the role of Sakamoto Ryōma, who is distressed resulting from conflicting pressures and uncertainty about one’s self and role in the society. Being embroiled in the middle of a Tosa coup d’état and bent on finding the murderer who assassinated his mentor, Ryōma burrows himself with a hidden identity in the streets of Kyo and joins the grim Shinsengumi.

Despite being the second Like a Dragon series spin-off set in the samurai era instead of modern-day Japan, this game is unrelated to Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan!, which was released in 2008 on the PlayStation 3. Kenzan is set two centuries before Ishin!, hence the plots are not related with each other. Each game focuses on a different character, the historical figures of Miyamoto Musashi (1584–1645) and Sakamoto Ryōma (1836–1867) respectively.

  1. Dream cast guy I have a question do you know when lie of p coming out and when can we pre other it

  2. Funny there hasn’t been a apology video about the fake outrage about redfall not having a disk. Quick to jump on negative Xbox rumors and not so quick when they’re disproven

  3. Is it the best yakuza? If you already have the others it is

  4. Yakuza games are always weird. That's part of the charm. It's on my pile

  5. I was waiting 8 years for this and it's absolutely fantastic, well worth the wait and i hope this leads to a Kenzan localisation if Ishin sells well 🙂

  6. So where's the Hogwarts Legacy review? You know, one of the biggest game releases of the year?

  7. Outdated or not, I’ll hardly say no to games that weren’t given western releases previously be given new life to be enjoyed, and most old games deserve to still be enjoyed (more so especially so long as the localizers have a leash put on them too so they don’t butcher anything).

  8. i remember playing Ishin demo in Sega's booth back in TGS2013 . and finally, I will get the chance to play this game in English . lets hope they will localize "Kenzan" next

  9. The gunplay looks kind of like a spaghetti western to me. Which mackes sense given that this is set in the same time period as the westerns.

  10. For the PC gamers beware, this game has shader cache studder like a mother. Played the demo, and my God. Keep that in mind before you purchase.

  11. 𝗞𝗨𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗨 𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗗𝗢𝗚 says:

Much love to you, Max. Looking fwd to grabbing this title.

  12. When are we boycotting Microsoft? First they took BugSnax, then Deathloop, Ni No Kuni and now they have almost all the Personas! We, your loyal PlayStation team, fully and strongly support your fight against Microsoft! Let’s get them(ms)!

  13. Meh. As usual & boring game's Marches on .

  14. Ishin: via plus as usual or BARGAIN bins az usual.

  15. I tried the demo and I got bored after 5 minutes.
Wo Long is more my type of samurai game.

  16. I'm trying to dodge spoilers as much as possible but I have a very important question: does this game have the hilarious and farcical sidequests like the other Yakuza games, or is it more serious and subdued like the Judgment spinoffs? Thanks.

  17. Hey can you please stop starting off every review with saying "One of my favorite series/games" just kinda takes away your creditably if you say EVERY game is one of your faves. No hate it's just kinda annoying you say it literally every single time. And most times you never mention said game till the review then all of a sudden it's a favorite? Eh.

  18. The original version of the game came out after Yakuza 5 but before Yakuza 0, both of which use the same engine.

So it'll play like that, but rebuilt in UE4.

  19. My All time favorite series!!!!!!!! Started in 2005 with Yakuza till now and going.

  20. Wild dancer is the stance that everyone will love wtf? 🤣

  21. I bought the Digital Deluxe Edition this morning for Series X, and I had to have this since I owned every Yakuza game and spinoff

  22. Just another Yakuza game that I gotta have in the library. 👍🏿👍🏿

  23. Dreamcast Guy: It’s boring. I don’t like but it’s very fun.

  24. hey thanks for the review! I do agree that it feels quite dated as it is only a remake in a technical sense but actually a remaster inside so it still plays like a game from 2014.
but it's still so fun to play and the characters are all amazing. Ishin experiments quite a lot due to it being a spin off and I appreciate it and the different feel of the Bakumatsu period is a welcome change once in a while. The game is still dope tho, especially now that it finally released outside Japan , I couldn't complain.

    Anyway, thanks for the review

  25. And that's what makes it an awesome game franchise.

  26. @DreamcastGuy, I’ve been playing every Yakuza game that has been released here in the US, and I’m ready for this one as well.

  27. Kiryu is the ultimate all rounder- shooting lightning out of his hand was but a mutant gene in dormancy. He is not strange, but the ultimate Japanese male power fantasy. Know your shit. Peace.

  28. Bro wild dance is the best style in the game :p Good review anyway

  29. Great series but yakuza 7 was most weird one and made me rage quit because of the confusing business building mechanics.’ And you had to collect alot of money to progress the story which was so tedious to do cuz there was like no other way to get decent amount of money. Ishin looks interesting i may pick it up once it gets a price drop. It may be outdated like you said because this game technically released several years ago in japan and this is like a remaster

  30. “Kiryu Kazuma and Goro Majima” had me insanely tight. Iykyk. But like at least know the order of his name lol

  31. Cuckboy really said that wild dancers the shittiest stye piss off

  32. DCG: the only stance that really sucks is wild dancer

    Me: …does he know

  33. So you're not going to delete the video for spreading false information on Redfall?

  34. This game has been pretty awesome. Definitely has weird stuff but overall love it. My one block that I have to overcome is learning how to win at mahjong.

  35. The funniest parts is when you whip the local thugs ass and literally stab them.. but after you beat them they just up and leave like they just taken a bad punch rather than freaking being stabbed lol

  36. Wild Dancer is kinda OP just spam circle button and go bruh

  37. The wild dancer is my favoutite style since when i played the game on ps4 kn japanese 😂

  38. It is all started from fans who begged for remastered ishin into west after the successive Ghost of tsushima
